Mum Puppettheatre Proud to Announce 7 Barrymore Award Nominations

 Philadelphia, PA – Mum Puppettheatre is pleased to announce that its production of The Fantasticks received seven Barrymore award nominations from the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia.  Mum is proud to have its work recognized in major categories that include: 

·        Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical -- The Fantasticks

·        Harold Prince Award for Outstanding Direction of a Musical -- Aaron Cromie

·        Outstanding Music Direction -- Mat Wright and Aaron Cromie

·        Outstanding Leading Actor in a Musical -- Bev Appleton

·        Outstanding Leading Actress in a Musical  -- Kim Carson

·        Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical -- Dave Jadico

·        Outstanding Ensemble in a Musical -- The Fantasticks

 “Six years ago, when Mum’s production of Equus was nominated for a record 8 Barrymore awards, many thought it was a fluke. But once again, one of the smallest theaters in Philadelphia is getting a lot of attention and for the same reason: re-imagining a classic in ways that go far beyond what humans alone can perform,” explained Robert Smythe, Artistic Director at Mum.  “If you haven’t seen what Mum does, you haven’t seen what live theater can accomplish. Size has nothing to do with it: Mum Puppettheatre is a major force in Philadelphia theater.”

The Barrymore Awards are Philadelphia metro area’s theatre awards program, produced by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia. The 2007 award recipients will be announced on October 1 2007 at The Crystal Tear Room at 100 Penn Square.
