The Velveteen Rabbit Returns for the Holiday Season! Two great ways to enjoy a Mum spin on a classic story!

For Immediate Release: November 14, 2002

Philadelphia, PA - "What is REAL?" asks the plush rabbit in the classic children's story The Velveteen Rabbit. Audiences of all ages discover the magical answer as a whirling blend of rod puppets, shadow puppets and hand puppets recreate Margery Williams' well-loved tale. A family favorite for over eight years, Mum Puppettheatre's The Velveteen Rabbit runs November 29th through December 31st. Tickets are $12. Performances are at 12pm and 2pm. Visit Mum on the web at www.mumpuppet.org to see specific performance dates.

Returning for its ninth season, The Velveteen Rabbit is directed by Mum's Artistic Director Robert Smythe and is performed by Aaron Cromie and Mike Canfield. All three were most recently seen in Mum Puppettheatre's The Madwoman of Chaillot. Against the background of Adam Wernick's original musical score, performers and puppets wordlessly draw the audience into the world of this unforgettable story. After each performance, meet the cast of The Velveteen Rabbit and get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at a Mum production!

The Velveteen Rabbit has become a tradition at Mum: a signature piece that brings the plastic and performing arts to a younger audience. More importantly, the timeless quality of the story crosses generations. Every member of the audience is part of re-telling the story of the beloved plush rabbit who discovers the meaning of "real". The Velveteen Rabbit is an engaging experience the whole family will enjoy.

Tickets are now on sale through Mum's Box Office at 215-925-7686 or online at www.mumpuppet.org.
