News Flash: Mum Puppettheatre Receives Record Number of Barrymore Nominations!

For Immediate Release: August 12, 2002

Philadelphia, PA - Mum Puppettheatre was honored with a record eight Barrymore Award nominations at the press conference on August 7, 2002. Last season's hit, Equus, received more nominations than any other play! In addition to a nomination for Best Ensemble performance in a Play, Equus was nominated for Best Overall Production of a Play. Tobias Segal was nominated for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Play and Greg Wood was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play. Susan Smythe was nominated for Best Costume Design. Robert Smythe was nominated for Best Choreography. Aaron Cromie, William Roudebush, and Robert Smythe shared a nomination for Best Sound Design. William Roudebush was also nominated for Best Direction of a Play. This is the highest number of nominations in one season that Mum Puppettheatre has received since the establishment of the company. The Barrymore Awards will be presented on October 7, 2002 at 7 p.m. in the Annenberg Center's Zellerbach Theater.
