Special Performance Opportunity! Whether in your space or ours, offer award-winning Mum Puppettheatre to your camp this summer! Bookings now available by calling 215.925.8686.

For Immediate Release: March 15, 2002

Philadelphia, PA - Mum Puppettheatre will be in your neighborhood! During the summer months, Mum Puppettheatre is thrilled to be offering a unique experience to camp programs throughout the Delaware Valley. This summer, Mum Puppettheatre is offering three specialized programs to camps.

Workshop Program:
Introduce your campers to the art of found-object puppetry. In our workshops, your campers will study with graduates of the famed Dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre. In this workshop, students will learn to tap into their own imagination to create the world of the puppet. From Styrofoam balls to a pair of shoes, campers will learn to find art anywhere in the world around them.

Class Limit: 20 per teacher; Workshop price: $150 for 45 minutes.

Performance Program:
Circus & Sideshow begins with a tale and ends with a bang as Mum Puppettheatre traces the history of performance from story-telling to movie special effects. Performed in two halves, Circus & Sideshow is a triumph of man over materials and the imagination over the mundane in two acts. The first act, Sideshow, breaks Mum Puppettheatre's own rule about performing without words. Using masks and puppets from around the world as well as a lot of junk, Sideshow is a whirlwind tour through time and geography. The second act, Circus, uses no words but is loaded with raucous sound effects as it examines life under the Big Top when no one is looking - a look under the canvas when the center ring is empty and the sawdust is still. Using examples of puppetry introduced in Sideshow, Circus opens the door in a world of incredible possibilities - from the Aquacade to the Motorcycle-Riding Bear.

Due to the rapport that develops between performer and audience, each performance of Sideshow & Circus is unique to the age and experience of the audience. And of course, once it's all over, we take the curtain and down and let the audience see what is really going on backstage.

Audience Limit*: In your space: None; In our theatre: 80. Study Guide Available.

Performance Cost*: In your space: $500; In our theatre: $400.

Best of Both Worlds Program:
Combine the workshops and performance into a full-day experience for your campers. Workshops are held in the morning with your own private performance in the afternoon! Watch as your campers see the magic of their workshops unfold into a full performance.

Best of Both Worlds Cost*: In your space: $750; In our space: $650.

Already coming to Philadelphia to visit the historic sites this summer? Why not take a break from that hot afternoon sun for your own private performance? Give us a call today to schedule your own private performance at the time that best suits your needs! Our theatre holds up to 80 people and we are only 1 block away from the Besty Ross House and Elfreth's Alley!
