Mum Puppettheatre presents Emmy-nominated Perry Alley Theatre in Snow White and Other Stories!

For Immediate Release: February 4, 2002

Philadelphia, PA - Created and performed by Emmy-nominated Perry Alley Theatre, Mum Puppettheatre presents Snow White and Other Stories, a collection of well-known stories done in a new way at its theatre at 115 Arch Street in Old City, Philadelphia, March 1st through March 24th. Performances run Saturday and Sunday at 12pm and 2pm. All tickets are $10. Call the box office at (215) 925-7686 or log onto www.mumpuppet.org.

In Snow White and Other Stories Perry Alley Theatre performs the classics with a twist: Little Red Riding Hood as it might have been performed in ancient Rome; The Princess and the Pea with an audience sing-along; and a very unusual Snow White where the characters are made from a bag of groceries. The production will be presented in a wide variety of styles, with hand puppets, mouth-puppets and object theatre. The general tone is fun and delight yet the pieces are by no means devoid of meaning; as one might expect from folk literature, the pieces address the human weaknesses and moral dilemmas that beset us all.

Perry Alley Theatre, now in its 15th season, is a touring theatre company headed by Andrew and Bonnie Periale. Separately or together they have been performing professionally for over 20 years and are devoted to advancing both the art and public perception of puppetry. They have received two UNIMA Citations, the highest award in the field of puppetry, and are Emmy-Award nominees for their work on Snow White and Other Stories.

Snow White and Other Stories marks the third time Mum Puppettheatre has presented another company as part of its season, continuing its mission of bringing the best puppetry in the world to Philadelphia. More information is available at www.mumpuppet.org or by calling (215) 925-8686.
